The South Sudan National Ministry of General Education and Instruction has launched a digital platform that allows students to access national primary and secondary school examination results on their phones.
The short message service was launched in partnership with the telecommunication firm, Digital Holdings Limited. It will enable national examination candidates to get their results immediately after they are released by the South Sudan National Examination Council.
General Education and Instruction Minister and the Chairperson of the National Examination Council, Awut Deng Acuil, commended Digital Holdings for the service, stating that it would minimize human errors.
“We have gathered here today to grace the launch of an ICT solution that will allow our candidates to gain access to their examination results once they are released. The result check solution has been developed in partnership with Digital Holdings Company Limited. We are very thankful for this partnership,” the Minister said.
“I am also told that Digital Holdings has embarked on the development of candidate a registration software. This will minimize human error,” she added.
The Minister further said that the digital platform would enhance education efficiency and urged all the stakeholders to exercise teamwork for the achievement of valuable results.
“I am optimistic that the initiative will enable us protect the integrity and the reputation of our Council. I therefore implore all of us to work together to enhance our educational efficiencies by adapting technologies,” Acuil said.
She cautioned school administrators to desist from charging students fee for examination results in what she termed as a violation of the education law.
“I don’t want any school to be charging any fee for accessing results. We pay for the certificate, we pay for the examination, we pay for transportation, the issue of fee to get the results is a violation of our law,” the Minister warned.
The Executive Vice-President of Digital Holdings, Athiei De Chan Awuol, expressed confidence that the platform would deliver without any hindrances.
“The input we got from the technical team and all the stakeholders has made this product to come out very nicely today. I am very confident that anybody who is going to use this product will not encounter any technical hiccups because of all your contributions,” he said.
