The Christians of the Anglican diocese of Maridi in South Sudan have appointed Moses Zungo as the new Diocesan Bishop replacing Bishop Justin Badi Arama who was elected the Anglican Arch Bishop of South Sudan.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj the diocesan bishop commissary canon Beneath Khamis Joseph praised the people of his diocese saying they have shown great unity during the process of nomination which brought together locals and government officials.

Newly appointed Bishop Zungo thanked the people for trusting him and asked for their support in his pastoral journey.

“I want to tell all Christians here in Maridi that my appointment comes from everyone. The work of God demands our efforts, our hearts at this time so that God can work through us, to bring forth a new people and a new generation. We know there is a lot of division in our country and mainly it comes from the politicians. People hate each other because of tribalism and many other reasons. But here in Maridi we are one people,” he said.

Zungo has served as a diocesan secretary of Maridi for over 12 years and has been a pastor for more than 20 years.
