Miriam Paul Jibi, minister of health in Eastern Lakes, admitted that there were no medicines for Eastern Lakes Hospital.

The minister further said the facility receives frequent complaints from the local residents about increasing spread of malaria disease among the locals and internally displaced people in the area, amid acute shortages of malaria drugs.

Miriam also raised concerns about the spread of Rift Valley Fever among the children especially in Yirol East County.

The official called on international NGOs to provide medicines to the local community and the internally displaced people who are currently living in the state.
