The governor of Eastern Lakes state has been accused of a power grab and violating the constitution after swearing in newly appointed ministers without any parliamentary approval.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, Marial Amum, who is the head of the state parliamentary information committee, said the current cabinet is not constitutional because it was not vetted by the state parliament.

“What has been done by the governor is unconstitutional. Any minister sitting currently in the office claiming that he is representing people that is not true and it also unconstitutional,” said Amum.

He accused Governor Bor Wutchiok of violating the state constitution by swearing in new ministers without seeking any parliamentary approval.

Amum called on all lawmakers who are representing Eastern Lakes state in the national government in Juba to intervene and solve the issue as a sign of respect for the constitution.
