The former commissioner of Torit County in South Sudan Eastern Equatoria state German Charles Ojok has warned of a humanitarian crisis in the area.
He told Radio Tamazuj that the county lacks food, which will lead to a disaster if the NGOs do not intervene. Ojok added that the suffering of people has increased since the previous month due to scarcity of food and rise in price of consumer goods.
“A drum of clean water has increased from 7 SSP to 20 SSP, which forced those with limited income to drink water direct from the river,” he said. “This leads to the spared of waterborne diseases among the population.”
