In the early hours on Saturday a grenade was thrown into the midst of a crowd at a night club in the state capital Torit.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj today, County Commissioner German Charles said that Torit Municipality in collaboration with the state government and the county commissioner’s office have temporarily banned nightclubs and other nighttime social gatherings

The commissioner said the decision was made the day after the attack. He said overnight prayer events were also forbidden for the time being. German said the policy might change later if the security situation improves.

He also noted that the death toll of the grenade attack has risen from four to six after two of the wounded also passed away.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Eastern Equatoria State Louis Lobong says the government is offering a reward of up to 100,000 pounds for any information leading to the arrest of those who carried out the grenade attack, Eye Radio reported.

Speaking during a visit to survivors at Juba Teaching Hospital, Lobong described the attack as cowardly and barbaric, and he vowed that the suspects will be arrested.
