Tajeddin Bashir Niam, head of a peace and reconciliation committee in East Darfur, has announced that a final reconciliation conference between the Arab nomadic tribes Rizeigat and Ma’alia will be convened early December in Merowe town in Sudan’s Northern State.
In a press statement to the Sudanese News Agency (SUNA), Niam said he had a meeting with tribal leaders representing the two tribes. He said they persuaded them to end their feud.
He further said the tribal leader agreed on the venue of the meeting and the timeframe for the reconciliation conference. Bashir pointed out the two tribes are now ready to sign a reconciliatory document and cessation of hostilities agreement.
