East Darfur governor threatens to quit if tribal conflict continues

The governor of Sudan’s East Darfur state Anas Al-Noor said he would quit if the conflict between the Maalia and Rizeigat tribes continue. 

In an interview with Al-Intibaha Arabic newspaper in Khartoum, al-Noor said received personal threats through the social media websites.

“If the conflict has renewed and the country failed to stop it I will quit my position immediately and I will not wait for the position or resignation” al-Noor said.

The governor said that the selection of his cabinet outside the state has helped in stabilizing the area.
