East Darfur governor detained by Ma‘alia tribesmen at Adila locality

The East Darfur state governor Abdel Hamid Musa Kasha has allegedly been detained for some time with his security delegation at the premises of the Adila locality in West Darfur State, where he paid a visit.

The governor and the companying team comprises of the Chief of General Staff of the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) Ahmend Ali, as well as the Head of the West Darfur Division Gen. Esam Sherif hail from Rizeigat tribe.

A source confirmed that the visiting team of the governor was attacked by the Ma‘alia tribesmen, when they were conducting a meeting with the security committee in the area.

The attackers were using sticks and stones; some citizens shot at the building and threw stones before the organized forces evacuated the governor and his accompanying delegation.

Salah Adel Rahman, the Ma‘alia tribe Spokesman, confirmed that 22 people from their side have been killed and other three missing, as well as 23 wounded, taken to hospital in Belila area.

At the time, a local source from Ed Daein the capital of East Darfur confirmed that the numbers of death toll were forty-seven people, whereas the wounded were (117) people they were taken to hospital in Ad-Daein town.
