East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MPs have been sworn-in today in Arusha, Tanzania, an MP representing South Sudan said.
This is the fourth assembly of the East Africa Legislative Assembly.
Kim Gai Ruot, a lawmaker representing South Sudan, told Radio Tamazuj that MPs representing the East African Community were sworn in today in Arusha.
He pointed out that the speaker of South Sudan parliament was also present during the event but the election of EALA speaker was delayed.
EALA is an organ of the East African Community established in 2001 with a mandate of legislation, representation and oversight. It is constituted of nine elected members from each of the partner states.
The nine elected nominees to EALA from South Sudan are Gabriel Alaak Garang, Gabriel Garang Aher Arol, Thomas Tut Gatkek Deang, Ann Itto, Gai Nhial Deng Nhial and Wuda Jeremiah Odok.
Other members are Mukulia Kennedy Ayason, Kim Gai Ruot and Gideon Gatpan Thoar.
