Eastern Equatoria Minister of Information Mark Akio says the state legislative assembly has approved a proposal presented by a committee tasked to distribute movable assets and human resources among the newly created Namurnyang and Imatong States.

Per the terms of Salva Kiir’s “Establishment Order,” Eastern Equatoria will be divided into two states. The order has not yet become law but state goverments have been tasked to prepare for its implementation.

Okio told Radio Tamazuj in an interview yesterday that about 1,225 staffs in Eastern Equatoria State were distributed between the two states.

Separately, Angelo Taban, Minister of Local Government in West Bahr el Ghazal told Radio Tamazuj that they are not in a hurry to divide movable assets to the newly created states. He pointed out that his government has not yet formed a committee to look into how to divide the assets between the two states, saying the procedures for the division of states have not yet been operationalized.
