American award-winning singer Kennedy Ongele Lorya, professionally known as Dynamq, recently emphasized the importance of parents investing in their children to help them achieve their dreams.
Dynamq, who participated in the 2023 Ruka Festival in Yei River County alongside national and international singers, urged parents to guide and protect their children in their career pursuits.
During a press interaction at the conclusion of the Ruka Festival, Dynamq stressed the significance of investing in children and youth, stating that it exposes them to talents that can lead to success in life.
Despite acknowledging the challenges of the times, Dynamq emphasized the crucial role of parents and guardians in supporting children, regardless of their career aspirations, be it in science, medicine, or music.
“I know times are tough, but the children are the future. Invest in the kids. If a child wants to be a scientist, doctor, or even a musician, invest in them the right way and also guide them because our youth are losing their way easily, and we must protect the kids,” Dynamq urged.
Additionally, Dynamq highlighted the positive shift towards peace, with people returning home, and emphasized the need for essential facilities such as hospitals, good roads, and sound systems. He called on leaders to listen to the voices of the people and address these crucial needs.
“I sense a slow but steady gathering of people, coming together for peace. The leaders will do what they do, but my hope is that they truly listen to the people. We need essential facilities here – hospitals, good roads, and quality sound systems. We almost need everything here, but you know, everything takes time,” Dynamq expressed.
In a similar vein, Dominic Boboya, the chairperson of the Yei Music Association, encouraged the youth to embrace creativity for sustaining their families, emphasizing the need for self-generated job opportunities.
“In Yei, the youth are incredibly creative. I urge them to create job opportunities for themselves – whether in agriculture, carpentry, or other income-generating activities. Don’t just sit back and wait for the government to provide jobs; we cannot all work in the government. The youth population is high, so I just urge them to be creative,” explained Boboya.
These statements were made during the post-Ruka Festival event, which featured artists like Dynamq, Nketia from Ghana, Single Dee, Lilbeen, and Irene Toss.
The annual Ruka Festival in Yei, bringing together thousands of youth, children, and the elderly, instils hope for the people of Yei, indicating a realistic prospect of peace.
