Renovation of dykes is expected to kick off today Tuesday in Twic East County in South Sudan’s Jonglei State, a local official said.
Dau Akuei Jorkuch, Twic East Commissioner, told Radio Tamazuj that the renovation of the dykes was supposed to start earlier, but it was halted due to technical problems with excavators besides the lack of spare parts in the area.
The county official further said the maintenance will take two months. However, he stressed that the work will be expedited due to the rainy season.
He said that the security situation is stable in his county, saying the local authorities urged local citizens to embark on farming in this year’s agriculture season.
