The commissioner of Duk Pagak County in South Sudan’s Jonglei state, Yien Jal has decried the unavailability of life-saving medicines in the county since December last year.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Friday, Jal said local residents have not been accessing basic health services after the only health facility ran out of drugs.
“Now it is almost two weeks since we ran out of drugs. There is only one health facility in the whole county. It receives about 700 patients per day, some are from Fangak and Bieh states,” he said.
The commissioner reported a rise in malaria and diarrhea cases among children, adding that one child died from Malaria last month.
He urged health agencies to supply his county with life-saving drugs.
