Authorities in Duk Pagak County in South Sudan’s Jonglei State are calling for aid organizations operating in the country to support local residents who returned to the county from neighbouring countries.

Duk Pagak Commissioner Yien Jal Dor told Radio Tamazuj on Monday that humanitarian organizations are needed to quickly intervene and provide food, shelter and medical aid in the area.

The local official pointed out that nearly 8,000 people who fled to neighbouring countries have recently returned to the county. He pointed out that the returnees are suffering badly due to lack of food and shelter, while calling on aid agencies to assist the locals before their conditions deteriorates further.
