Duk Padiet authorities complain of poor health conditions

Authorities of Duk Padiet County of South Sudan’s Jonglei State have complained of poor health conditions in the area.

Authorities of Duk Padiet County of South Sudan’s Jonglei State have complained of poor health conditions in the area.

Duk Padiet County Commissioner Elijah Manyok told Radio Tamazuj on Thursday that there are no medicines in health facilities in the area.

He said the locals have resorted to using herbal medicines due to lack of medicines in county health facilities.

Nine people are suspected to have died from malaria since July 10, he said. “We are cut off. No drug supplies for the last two and a half months since the ICRC [International Committee of the Red Cross] pulled out from the area,” Manyok said.

He added, “The situation has worsened with floods in our areas. No drugs in health facilities even for private ones”.

The local official urged South Sudan government and aid agencies to supply his county with life-saving drugs.
