Duk community raises funds for road maintenance

Authorities say they have raised 107,000 SSP to improve feeder road connections in Duk County in Jonglei State. The initiatives comes from the county administration in order to make it easier to travel to neighboring areas and within the county.

Micheal Lual Wuor, Duk County Commissioner told Radio Tamazuj that the Duk community managed to contributed over 100,000 pounds on Saturday

The commissioner said it was the first time for such fundraising for the development of Duk and he will make sure the contributed amount will be used to improve the livelihood of Duk citizens.

Asked about the possibility of government waste and corruption, Wuor admitted, “Yes, the level of corruption is high but am sure, I was born in Duk and I will make sure whatever plan decided by people will not disrupted and by doing that I have formed the committee comprised of five members to facilitate the activities.”

He described the project as a continuous process in which they have first to take a lead and then later will get more assistance from friends and the Government of Jonglei State to further improve the roads.
