A dual Swedish and South Sudanese national was arrested on Friday in Yambio, the capital of Western Equatoria state. The cause of arrest was unclear.
“I was told yesterday that the governor ordered my husband to be arrested and I don’t know why Governor Zumoi did that,” said Martha Afindi Wani, a wife to Justin, reffering to governor Patrick Raphael Zamoi.
She said that if her husband did something wrong, than he should be taken to court. “No way someone should be detained by the security”
Justin Wannis worked as the former Director for Investment and Public Relations in the office of the former Western Equatoria governor for almost five years. There, he was coordinating with investors coming to Western Equatoria until he was removed by the new governor. Afindi said her husband was not a politician but a student in Europe for more than 20 years.
She said her husband was arrested around 6:25 p.m, and that she spoke with him on the telephone.
“He confirmed that he was in security and he asked for medicines to be sent to him for blood pressure with water. Since yesterday, I did met him in person” she said
