Drinking water contaminated in Renk County

Kang Jok, manager of the Renk County water network, said that there is a problem in the water network of Renk. He said that the water station is located west of Sher Creek, stressing that the creek caused muddy water in the network, forcing residents to drink unclean water.

In an interview, he referred that the reasons for the dirty water saying that the creek contains dirt, waste residues and feces of some people. He attributed the spread of diarrhea and typhoid fever to the contaminated water, adding that the only way to address this is by purifying water with chlorine.

He also complained about the incapacity of the water network to cover the needs of all the citizens of Renk County, mentioning in particular those at the Abayok and Faywar camps who are in transit from Sudan to South Sudan.
