DRC to support South Sudan develop mineral sector

South Sudanese ministry of mining has pledged to work with the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo to develop the mining sector in a bid to reduce the country’s over reliance on oil revenue.

South Sudanese ministry of mining has pledged to work with the neighboring Democratic Republic of Congo to develop the mineral sector in a bid to reduce the country’s over reliance on oil revenue.

Speaking to the press after a meeting with the Congolese Ambassador to South Sudan on Monday, South Sudan Minister of mining Gabriel Thokuj Deng said they discussed ways of how to develop the mining sector between the two countries.

Thokuj mentioned that they will focus on developing the mining sector in Western Equatoria region which lies on the border between South Sudan and Congo saying this joint venture will support the economy of both countries.

For his part, the Congolese Ambassador to Juba Rene Illuime Tembele assured that his country is ready and willing to work with South Sudan in the mining industry.
