Dozens of Nuba refugees flee Lasu camp after attack

Dozens of refugees from the Nuba Mountain region who fled Lasu refugee camp in Central Equatoria following attack on the area by armed group are facing an unknown situation in the bush on the border between South Sudan and the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, Majhoub Bila, the leader of the camp said 176 people including children and women who fled after an attack on the camp in September are facing unknown situation in the bushes without any assistance from the government or the humanitarian organization.

He noted that all the roads to Yei County are closed due to insecurity, saying also that one refugee was killed by unknown gunmen and 6 other people including children were kidnapped since two weeks ago and their whereabouts is unknown.

Bilal pointed that the children and women in the camp are in dire conditions due to shortages of food and lack of health services.
