The two warring parties in South Sudan yesterday day signed a document committing to allow humanitarian access and considere allowing for a ‘month of tranquility’ in order to allow planting to take place.

The signing came after pressure from the IGAD mediators and other diplomats, amid rising concerns from aid agencies that the violence is cutting off too many people and too much of the country from assistance.

A document on the “Recommitment on Humanitarian Matters” in the earlier signed cessation of hostilities agreement was signed yesterday by heads of delegation Nhial Deng and Taban Deng, and witnessed by the mediators.
