Doctors' strike in Sudan enters fifth day

The doctors' strike in Sudan has entered its fifth day today and is ongoing at around 74 hospitals across the country.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, chairperson of information in Sudan Central cCommittee of Surgeons Hosam al Dein al Badoi, said the strike includes 74 hospitals, health facilities, some military hospitals and health insurance centres across the country.

“The strike is going on in all over the country. Now we have 74 hospitals in the country that are striking which is more than 95% of the hospitals in Sudan,” said Hosam.

He stressed that they will continue with the strike until their demands is met. They are asking for better working conditions.

Sudan's State Minister of Health Sumaya Idris said on Friday that the strike by some doctors did not affect the work of the hospitals in Khartoum and the concerned authorities are looking into their demands.
