The open-ended strike being staged by doctors at Omdurman, Bahri and Ibrahim Malik Hospitals in Sudan’s capital Khartoum has entered its third day, without any convincing response from government, a member of the doctor’s committee said.
The strikers are demanding better working environment and protection after a doctor at Omdurman Hospital was attacked by relatives of a patient who died in the health hospital.
Dr. Abdallah Gurashi, secretary general of the striking doctor’s committee, told Radio Tamazuj that they will continue with their strike in the three health facilities until their demands are fulfilled.
He pointed out that sub-committees of the striking doctors met and discusses how to organize the strike across the country.
“The reason for the strike is the safety of the doctors while doing their work and other challenges the doctors are facing, so they were discussed and petitions were presented to different administrations and the ministry,” said Gurashi.
