Doctors on strike in Sennar Hospital

Doctors at the Sennar Hospital in Sudan’s Sennar State have been on strike since Saturday protesting what they described as “poor health conditions” in the facility.

In a statement issued Monday, the doctors said the hospital is in terrible condition, especially in terms of medical equipment.

The doctors said they had complained to authorities about the matter without any positive response and that they will continue the strike until their demands are met.

Expensive school uniforms

In the neighboring town of Damazin in Blue Nile state, parents are complaining of soaring prices of school uniforms following the opening of the academic year by the State Ministry of Education on Sunday.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj Monday, several parents and guardians of pupils criticized the decision by the Minister of Education to change the school uniform this year.

“The price of a school uniform per child costs more than 120 SDG, so the decision of the minister was improper to change to the uniforms this year,” one parent said.

The parents said they faced difficulties buying school materials because of the cost.
