Jonglei state health ministry has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Doctors of the World organization to supply medicines, motivate medical staff, and provide support to maternity, pediatric and outpatients departments.
Speaking to Radio Tamazuj last Thursday, Dr. Angok Gordon Kuol, the state health minister said this will improve health service delivery in the state.
Gordon said, “Personally, as a minister I appreciated the support. The impact will be realized by the patients because it means improvement in quality service they are going to receive. We believe hospital will get back to the way it used to be before the crises since the staff will be maintained.”
The health official noted that the 5 doctors and 47 nurses as well as other supporting staff will each receive monthly monetary incentives as motivation.
For his part, Doctors of the World logistician Nicolas Trembling said they began renovating some hospital structures since November, but they are lobbying for more funds to support the extension of the project.
