Doctor says IDPs face dire conditions in SPLA-N areas of Blue Nile

Internally displaced civilians within rebel-held territories of Sudan’s southern Blue Nile are reportedly facing deteriorating health conditions amid medicine shortages.

Dr. Hassan Juma, a medical doctor from the SPLM-North areas, told Radio Tamazuj that that many displaced people are suffering from malaria and malnutrition in rebel-controlled areas.

He confirmed that a medical team from the SPLA-North health department visited about 18 healthcare centers from 6 August until early September. The tour aimed at acquainting themselves with the health conditions in the area, according to Juma.

However, Juma said the medical team could not reach Al Koma Ghanza areas due to poor roads. The doctor called upon humanitarians to exert efforts in order help the needy people in the southern Blue Nile area.
