Authorities of Torit County in Eastern Equatoria State sayd that over a thousand people previously displaced by conflict between the Idali and Loronyo clans have returned home.
Torit County Commissioner German Charles told Radio Tamazuj on Friday that over a thousand of them returned home by the end of December last year.
“Thousands of them returned home, and right now, I cannot estimate the number because they are moving with children but they are so many, thousands returned,” he said.
Asked about those who were arrested on suspicion of killing women and children at an Idali funeral, the commissioner said, “Some of those who were arrested are still under investigation while others whose investigations are over were released.”
He said that those remaining under investigations include almost 27 suspects and they are still in police custody under detention in the main state police station.
