Several displaced people in the UN compound in Malakal town of South Sudan’s Upper Nile state expressed their fears that fighting between SPLA and SPLA-IO in Juba may shift to their areas in Malakal.
A number of displaced people told Radio Tamazuj that calm has returned to the camp but there still fears that it could erupt, citing the presence of opposition forces in the western bank of the Nile, while the government is controlling Malakal town.
Malakal town has witnessed several clashes before the government control the town after the outbreak of the conflict in 2013.
Opposition general Johnson Olony who leads the Agwelek militia on the west bank is said to be currently in Khartoum.
