Displaced people at Wau camp still complaining about water shortage

More than 500 displaced people who were uprooted by rampant insecurity in South Sudan’s Wau town are still in desperate humanitarian conditions at the UN camp, several citizens said.

Matet Yat, a displaced person in Wau town, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that they are still experiencing deteriorating humanitarian conditions due to shortages of drinking water and medicines.

The displaced person pointed to poor sanitation inside the UN camp, saying they have two toilets only.“We are in a very bad condition, there is no drinking water and medicines,”said Matet.

“We have two toilets only in the camp that accommodates more than 500 people, we previously informed the UN mission about this situation since last month, but it didn’t do anything,” he added.

The conflict-displaced person called on humanitarian organizations to provide aid assistance to the needy people as soon as possible.
