Civilians who were affected by recent floods in Mongala county are still living without assistance, a local official told Radio Tamazuj.
Illario Pataki said in an interview that displaced are surviving with either help from relatives, or from leaves they have cultivated and he said it wasn’t sufficient. Several appeals have been made to both state government and humanitarian agencies but there has been no feedback, he said.
Last month the commissioner said more than 40 houses have been affected by floods, and people have moved to a higher area without shelter. He said about close to 100 people have been affected in Juba Na Bari.
As of Thursday 25 Aug. 16 the commissioner said the security situation in Mongala is calm, and people are going on with their normal business.
