A large number of displaced people have returned to their homes in Al Rahmaniya village in South Kordofan following mid-March fighting between SPLA-North rebels and government troops.

A source from Abu Jubeiha locality told Radio Tamazuj majority of the displaced citizens had returned back home, while a few number of people remained due to fear that fighting could erupt again in the area.

The returnees expressed fear after about 300 government forces arrived to protect them, according to the same source.

The conflict-affected families are complaining about a lack of market in the area.

The Sudanese aid commission previously said about 14,500 people fled their homes following fighting between SPLA-N rebels and government troops in parts of South Kordofan state.

Citing government data in its weekly bulletin, the UN’s Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affiars said that about 4,931 people were displaced from Al Rahmaniya and Seisan areas.
