More than 500 displaced people who were uprooted by rampant insecurity in South Sudan’s Wau town are said to be in desperate humanitarian conditions at displacement camps.

Matet Yat, a displaced person in Wau town, told Radio Tamazuj yesterday that they were experiencing deteriorating humanitarian conditions due to shortages of drinking water and medicines.

Yat noted that they previously requested the UN mission in South Sudan to construct water boreholes to solve the problem of water, but it has apparently failed to implement the project.

The displaced person pointed to poor sanitation inside the UN camp, saying they have two toilets only. Yat called on humanitarian organizations to provide aid assistance to the needy people as soon as possible.
