Dinka Malual tribe of former Northern Bahr al Ghazal and Rizeigat Arab nomads from Sudan’s West and South Darfur states, have concluded a three-day pre-migration conference in Nyamlel area in Lol state on Tuesday.
Representatives of the Fertit community of Raja area, Jonglei, Pibor, former Lakes and Terekeka states, participated in the meeting as observers.
Top state officials also attended the conference, which was meant to give opportunity for review of agreements made last year ahead of the Arab nomads’ seasonal migrations.
Addressing the conference, Rizig Zachariah Hassan, Governor of Lol state, urged all participants to respect peace resolutions, saying his government will provide protection to Rezeigat herders in Lol state.
The state official also urged the representatives of Jongeli, greater Lakes, Pibor and Terekeka states to apply what they have learned from the pre-migration conference to stop inter-communal conflicts in their areas.
The conference was facilitated by AECOM International through its VISTAS program.
