The Executive Director of the Human Development Organization operating in the Umm Dukhun locality in Central Darfur State has said thousands of people in the area are in urgent need of food and medical aid.
Adam Mohammed Ahmed appealed to international and local humanitarian organizations to provide urgent aid to the region, saying that after the outbreak of war between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces, the locality began to receive large numbers of people fleeing from West Darfur State.
Mohammed told Radio Tamazuj on Friday that the organization cooperates with several national and international organizations, most notably the American Medical Corps, and works in local and administrative units to provide health and educational services to citizens.
“The health situation is deteriorating in the state due to the spread of diseases, the migration of medical personnel, and the lack of medicines,” he said.
Mohammed called for joint efforts to help those in need in the various localities of the state.
“We are working to provide whatever assistance they can to the displaced and those affected by the ongoing conflict,” he said.
