Detained Sudanese activists released without charge

Three Sudanese activists detained since July after they were deported from Saudi Arabia last month were released on Tuesday without any charges against them.

Al-Walid Imam, Sallah Al-Dufeina, and Al-Gasim Sid-Ahmed were first detained in Saudi Arabia after the Sudanese government accused them of public incitement towards civil disobedience in the country last year.

In July, the Saudi government deported the three activists and handed them over to the Sudanese authorities.

A source close to the activists confirmed to Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that the three activists were released without any charge against them.

Amnesty International has been calling on the Sudanese government to release the three activists saying they were only expressing their freedom of opinion.
