Five members of the Sudanese communist party detained by the National Security Service in Blue Nile state were released on bail after being held for almost a month.
On 24 October, Adel Mohamed Kariazi was arrested from his office at the National Authority for Forestry in the state over distributing a public statement issued by the party on the occasion of anniversary of October Revolution. Another party member Ibrahim Musa and Hadi Saeed was also later arrested.
The party’s Secretary for Political Affairs Suleiman Ali was also arrested along with another two members working for a printing press in the town of Damazin.
Some sources suggested the arrests had something to do with the statement issued on the occasion of the anniversary of Sudan’s October Revolution, while others pointed out that the arrests came after a legal complaint made by party lawyers.
