The deputy minister of information on Wednesday commended Kiir’s decision to deploy security forces to defuse tensions between two feuding communities of Athoi and Panyoon in Western Lakes state.

The deputy minister of information on Wednesday commended Kiir’s decision to deploy security forces to defuse tensions between two feuding communities of Athoi and Panyoon in Western Lakes state.

In a press statement after visiting President Kiir, deputy minister Akol Paul Kordit said the deployment of troops has reduced tension and restored law and order in Western Lake state.

“I came on behalf of Western Lake community to deliver to the president the message of thanks and appreciation for deploying security personnel to Rumbek, capital of Western Lake state,” he said.

“The intervention by the president of the republic has restored law and order. It has helped calm down the situation and so the community is appreciative of the decision of the president and asked me to come and extend to him the message of thanks from the community,” he added.
