Deputy governor cancels governor's order in ongoing NBEG feud

The deputy governor of Northern Bahr al Ghazal State has canceled an order earlier given by the caretaker governor Kuel Aguer, regarding distribution of newly purchased vehicles to state officials and MPs.

Kuel has not returned to the state since leaving in January after ruling party officials declared him expelled from the party. A bloc of MPs in the state parliament also voted to impeach him last month.

The acting governor is Deputy Governor Salva Chol Ayat.

Salva issued an order today canceling the governor's distribution of newly purchased vehicles to cabinet ministers, many of whom have remained vocally supportive of the ousted caretaker governor.

The order dated 25 February and titled “recollection of new cars distributed to the ministers,” is addressed to the government secretary-general and copied to national security, police, parliament and all ministries.

It apparently refers to 24 new vehicles recently delivered to the state, as announced by the state government spokesman on 10 February.

“You are instructed to recollected them back and park in state house compound till further directive,” reads the order.
