Residents living in displaced camps under UN protection in the South Sudanese capital Juba on Friday demonstrated peacefully in support of Donald Trump’s swearing-in today as the 45th president of the United States.

Residents living in displaced camps under UN protection in the South Sudanese capital Juba on Friday demonstrated peacefully in support of Donald Trump’s swearing-in today as the 45th president of the United States.

Jeremiah Gai, a displaced person who played a leading role in the demonstration in support of President Trump said they hope that the new US administration will bring about peace and unity in South Sudan.

“We are very happy and we welcome the swearing-in of the new president Donald Trump, and we believe that this man will restore peace and unity between the people of South Sudan,” said Jeremiah.

Mary Nyanong, a displaced woman, said that they demonstrated to express their happiness about the swearing-in of the US President Donald Trump. She called on the new US administration to make peace in South Sudan.

“We want peace in South Sudan because we are suffering. The place where we are now is not good, that’s why we welcome anybody who protects human rights,” she said.

Gatmai Gatkuoth, one of the displaced youth inside the UN camp in Juba, said that they support President Donald Trump.” I am demonstrating because Donald Trump has become the US President, I believe that he will bring change, he will change the current situation,” said Gatmai.

Meanwhile, Rev. Dhoal Mathew, who is also sheltering inside the UN base, said that the conflict-displaced people inside the UN camps in Juba are very happy about Trump’s swearing-in as the 45th president of the United States.

“People here are very happy, and they hope that Trump will put pressure on the warring parties, especially the government to bring about peace in South Sudan,” he said.
