Residents sheltering inside the UN camp in Bentiu town on Monday demonstrated peacefully in support of the cessation of hostilities deal signed by warring parties in Ethiopia last week.
Yohannes Gatnyang, leader of the Bentiu camp, told Radio Tamazuj that they are currently demonstrating to support the peace process.
“People here are very happy about the cessation of hostilities agreement signed in Addis Ababa. Youth, women and the elderly are now celebrating inside the camp because of the signed agreement to stop fighting,” he said.
Gatnyang expressed hope that the recently signed cessation of hostilities agreement will restore peace and tranquillity in South Sudan.” I hope that the agreement will not be like the previous agreement. I think the presence of EU and Troika will help bring peace to our country,” he said.
