Delegation of Katella locality meets Sudan VP over security issues

A high-level delegation of Katella Locality in Sudan’s South Dafur State was recently dispatched to the capital Khartoum where it met top government officials, a local leader said.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj, the local leader who preferred anonymity said the group had returned back to the area on Sunday after holding a meeting with Vice President Hassabo Mohamed Abdurrahman, who hails from East Darfur's Rizeigat tribe.

He pointed out that the envoys talked of lack of basic services in the locality. The official revealed that the meeting in Khartoum also discussed issues pertaining to security and road networks in the locality.

The delegation requested deployment of additional security forces in the areas that lie on the South Darfur-South Sudan border in order to stop rebel movements from crossing to the area, according to the local official.

The delegation was led by representative of the Katella Locality at the national parliament Dr. Al Tayib Abdurrahman and member of the state legislative assembly Abakar Al Tom.
