The month of December saw the highest recorded number of bombs dropped in a one-month period in South Kordofan State since the start of the war, marking a sudden upsurge in bombings compared to previous months, according to Nuba Reports.

In a situation report for the month of December 2014 released yesterday, Nuba Reports said that the Sudan Armed Forces dropped at least 456 bombs in South Kordofan during the month, not including bombs dropped in Um Dorain area, where figures were not available.

“446 of these bombs were dropped in Buram county bordering South Sudan, more than the number documented by Nuba Reports in the previous six months combined,” reads the report.

Besides aerial bombings, the Sudanese military has also used artillery and rockets. For example, shelling reportedly continued in Delami County throughout December.
