Death toll rises to two in Pochalla fight

The death toll resulting from fighting in Pochalla County in eastern South Sudan has risen to two people after an injured policeman died of his wounds late yesterday afternoon.

The death toll resulting from fighting in Pochalla County in eastern South Sudan has risen to two people after an injured policeman died of his wounds late yesterday afternoon.

Sources yesterday morning told Radio Tamazuj that the fight started in the morning during a distribution of food items. Later in the day another civilian was reported injured bringing the total casualties to two dead and two injured.

The fighting was between residents of Pochalla North and Pochalla South. “This fighting is due to hidden politics in the county that is seriously divided,” a resident said.

Pochalla County headquarters was reportedly deserted after the fighitng as citizens fled for safety. King of the Anyuak Neya Akway Agada, who was visiting Juba yesterday, has urged security forces in Pochalla to contain the fighting.
