The number of people killed and wounded in tribal violence between the Nyangura and Kapura communities has risen to 22 and 30 injured following renewed clashes between the two tribes in Terekeka state.

The fighting erupted last week between the Nyangura and Kapura tribes over cattle looting, killing four people and injuring four others.

Speaking to Radio Tamazuj on Monday, Terekeka state governor Augustino Laku confirmed that the fighting renewed last weekend between the two communities, causing loss of life of 18 people, bringing the death toll to (22) dead from the two sides, and 30 wounded.

Laku added that the security situation in the area is now calm after deploying the police between the two communities.

Last week, government officials in Terekeka said the dispute broke out when a group of the Nyangura clan blocked the road to a group of Kapura tribes on their way from Juba to Terekeka.
