Death toll of tribal clashes in Tonj rises to 43: official

The death toll of the recent tribal clashes between Jal Wau and Thiik communities in Ngap Agok area in greater Tonj East of Tonj state rose to from 18 to 43, a state government official said.

Manim Bol Manim Manhim, deputy governor of Tonj state, told Radio Tamazuj on Tuesday that the tribal fighting on Sunday and Monday has resulted in the deaths of at least 43 people from both side.

He pointed out that the cause of the dispute between the two communities remains unclear. Manim noted that police forces have been deployed to contain the situation.

He claimed that the situation returned to normal.
