A state official has estimated that 12 people were killed when youths from surrounding cattle camps clashed with soldiers along the Juba – Terekeka road earlier this week.

Radio Miraya reported that the Central Equatoria State Information Minister Samuel Lasuba said the cause of the fighting is still unknown and under investigation by the Commissioner of Terekeka.

Radio Tamazuj previously reported that at least four SPLA soldiers and six Mundari youths were killed in skirmishes north of Juba.

Lasuba said, “It is wrong for civilians to fight the army. At the same time, it is also wrong for the army to fight civilians, whom you are supposed to protect.”

“We shall do our part as a government to prevail over youth that you must respect army, you must respect police, you must respect what is there as a government because a government is above everybody. And then also, we need to prevail over our own forces.”
