The number of people killed by gunmen in two separate attacks along the Juba-Bor road on Friday has risen to at least 31, a top state official.
Reportedly, the incident took place when a Land Cruiser vehicle and a passenger bus heading to Bor town were attacked by unknown gunmen in Sudan-Safari area of Terekeka State.
“The number of those who have died so far could reach 25 people, because there were people scattered in the bush. So, the total number is not yet known, but the number of people injured in the incident is 25 people,” said Philip Aguer, Governor of Jonglei State.
Separately, Aguer told Radio Tamazuj that a boat carrying people was attacked on its way from Bor to Juba on Saturday .He pointed out that six people are still missing.
“We cannot say that they are killed because nobody saw the dead bodies. Maybe there are still alive, we need to prove if something happened to them,” he said.
