Sudan has been hit by heavy rains since the start of July, affecting thousands of families in different states including Khartoum.

Suleiman Abdel-Gabar, Acting Undersecretary of the National Ministry of Health, said Sunday that the floods had injured 98 people.

He added that the torrential rains have affected 17 states, pointing out that 35,850 families were affected across Sudan. Abdel-Gabar disclosed that more than 3,600 animals died and that 150 public facilities were affected across the country.

Flooding of the Nile river remains the biggest problem, SUNA said, citing Abdel-Gadel.

The Sudanese health official pointed out that the worst affected areas are White Nile, Sennar, El Fasher, Wadramli and Wad El Mahy.
