A truck carrying cylinders of cooking gas exploded in Sudan’s capital Khartoum yesterday, a witness said.
The witness told Radio Tamazuj that the incident resulted in the deaths of several people and destroyed vehicles in the surrounding at a tunnel near Khartoum University.
“The truck actually exploded at 3:30, so it burned all the vehicles around the area. There was a bus coming Hajj Yusuf area has been also burned to ashes, besides other small cars,” the witness said.
“There were also street children in the tunnel, some of them died, whereas others were rescued,” the witness added.
The wounded people were reportedly taken to a hospital after ambulances arrived and the police came and cordoned off the area.
